Roatan

Roatan is the largest of the Bay Islands and the heart of Honduras' diving scene. Just offshore, the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef drops into dramatic walls draped in coral, with shipwrecks, caves, and currents that attract eagle rays, turtles, and whale sharks. On land, the island is equally active—dense green hills hide small fishing villages, and iguanas bask in the sun or move through the undergrowth. White-sand beaches fringe the coast, covered with conch shells, while the reef begins just a few fin kicks from shore.
