Apoyo Lagoon

Formed when a massive volcano collapsed 23,000 years ago, Apoyo Lagoon is one of Nicaragua’s most remarkable natural sites. Its deep, clear waters reveal steep walls, geothermal vents, and schools of freshwater fish found nowhere else. The surrounding forest is alive with monkeys, toucans, and orchids. Divers come here to train in these idyllic conditions where the freshwater pull starts happening around 10 meters, and becomes addictive.
